AWRS 22 8DAYS MOUNT KENYA CLIMB, SAMBURU AND NAIROBI N.PARK

Day 1- Arrive and be picked from the airport and transfer to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 2- After breakfast drive to the road head to Naromuru trail park gate for registration and recruitment of porters and guides. Thereafter, we drive through the montane rain forest and this will expose you to different bird species, buffalo, elephants and primate species. This zone is well known for its rooming leopards.

Day 3- We start early morning hike through bamboo mixed vegetation and reach the moorland with scattered groundsel trees, lobelia keniensis and helichrysum flowers. Common animals are the rocky and tree hyrax. This trail of the day will lead us to Markinda’s camp for our overnight rest.

Day 4- Wake up early morning and start hiking up either Peak Lenena through Austrian hut or and back to Markinda’s camp for a rest.

Day 5- We embark on a long way descend to get on board and drive out the park to River Side lodge in Naromuru for our overnight stay.

Day 6 - Samburu
Depart Samburu in the morning passing through the rich agricultural farmland on the slopes of Mountain Kenya to the mainly dry scrubland and open Savannah plains of Samburu Game Reserve. Here, the Ewaso Nyiro River supports a wide variety of game among them elephant, buffalo, cheetah leopard, lion, grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, Oryx and the long necked gerenuk. Accommodation in our permanent campsite beautifully set on the edge of the river under a canopy of trees, or pitch tent nearby.

Day 7 - Samburu
Day spent game viewing in the park.

Day 8 – Baringo
Leaving Samburu in the early morning, we make a scenic drive to the west across the Lerochi Plateau. Lunch enroute and later descend to the floor of the Great Rift Valley, arriving at Lake Baringo in the afternoon. This is a fresh water lake, which supports a great variety of birds as well as hippos and crocodiles. Indeed, the lake is reputed to be the bird-watching centre of Kenya.

Day 9- Depart for Nairobi for overnight rest.

Day 10- Early morning game viewing in Nairobi N.Park. After lunch, drive to the airport for your flight back.
