Situated
in Kisoro District, southwestern Uganda and it is part
of the great Virunga Conservation area adjoining Rwandas
Volcano and the Democratic Republic of Congos Virunga
National Parks.
The park is the smallest in Uganda and it is one of
the two parks that are habitat for the endangered Mountain
gorillas. Being a mountainous area, the park vegetation
is afromontane within a cool climate.
The abundant type of vegetation is the bamboo which
is a delicacy to the mountain gorilla. Other type of
flora includes the lobelia, haegenia and etc. Animals
include buffaloes, elephants, bushbucks, the golden
monkeys. Bird species includes Rwenzori turaco, crowned
hornbill, black kite and crowned crane.
